Poker Legends - Stu Ungar
In the later part of the 70's, Stuey the Kid Ungar came on the
Vegas seen like a bat out of hell. Never a poker player of traditional
strategies, he bent all the conventional ideologies of poker playing.
Poker has never been the same since this envelope-pusher arrived
on the scene.
Originally from New York City, he put the Gin Rummy community on
edge. By the time he was a teenager, he couldn't even find anyone
willing to play him for fear of losing serous cash. So at age 24
he moved out to Las Vegas and jumped straight into some of the most
high-profile poker games around.
He won the World Series of Poker and the Super Bowl of Poker three
times each.
Unfortunately, it is the same bat out of hell mentality that eventually
ended him. After a few major losses, he let his personal problems
get the best of him. He tragically died in 1998 at the age of 45.
