Poker Legends - Phil The Unabomber Laak

Relatively new to the poker world, this extremely gregarious poker player is one of the most vibrant players to watch, but not necessarily the easiest to play against. Known to chat quite a bit at the table, he can easily throw his opponents of kilter.

He was given the nickname Unabomber because of his hooded sweatshirt wearing antics. When stressed or in need of making serious moves, he will recoil into his hooded sweatshirt so far that all you can see are his sunglasses.

He started playing poker in 1999 and by 2003 he had entered only eight tourneys before playing in the WSOP three years in a row.

He says that competition is the main reason he was first attracted to poker on a pro level. Recently, he finished 2nd at the 2005 WSOP Pot Limit Holdem event.

Before going into poker on a pro level, he held several different jobs such as being a repo man. Besides poker playing it is said that he invests in a bit of real estate and likes watching the stock market. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Another interesting note is that he has caught the eye of Oscar nominated actress Jennifer Tilly and they have been a couple for quite a while. She shares his passion for poker (he taught her the ropes) and she is quite successful at playing ladies events.
