Nevada Gaming Commission toils with wireless gambling, approval
goes through
March 25
On Thursday, after two long years of debate, the rules governing
the use of wireless hand-held gaming devices in casinos, was approved
by the Nevada Gaming Commission. However, there is still the issue
surrounding which type off gaming technology should be used.
On one hand, the Commission's unanimous vote to allow casino players
the right to bet on casino games from outside the actual casino
floor has been cemented, but which companys technology will
provide the actual hand-held devices is still to be determined.
Because there is so much to consider when approving the actual
wireless gambling devices, this may take a considerable amount of
time. One thing is for sure, online casinos players now know that
Nevada is moving forward with the ability to make casino game betting
easier and the state is staying current with the future of gaming
as a whole in Nevada.
No matter how difficult it will be for all parties involved to
settle on a specific device foe wireless gambling, this is a huge
step in the gaming industry. While it seems the next step may be
hard, the first step of approval was by far the hardest and most
triumphant.
The wireless gaming issue was one of nearly 24 new gaming regulations
approved 2 days ago, but this issue was clearly the media attention-grabber
for sure.
Regulators stated that New Jersey was also beginning to look into
hand-held wireless gaming devices and the laws to pass in order
to move forward as Nevada has.
Proposed wireless gaming software includes firewalls. This way
the devices can't be used outside of public areas, such as hotel
rooms, or outside the property of the casino it is approved for.
In the next few months to come, regulators will be hammering out
such issues as underage use of the would-be devices and more. Obviously,
measures are already in place to prevent such things, but regulators
will be deciding on the exact software soon.
